About the Newell Regional Landfill
Run by the County of Newell, this regional landfill sits just off the Trans-Canada Highway on Secondary Highway 36, about 6 miles from Brooks. How to Get There
From Brooks, take the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) east and turn north onto Secondary Highway 36. The landfill is approximately 6 miles from Brooks. The entrance is on the east side of Hwy 36 and is clearly signed from the road. If you are coming from within Brooks, follow Hwy 36 north past the city limits.

- Household garbage and solid waste
- Electronics (TVs, computers, monitors, printers, cell phones)
- Rechargeable batteries & power tools
- Rinsed and empty containers
- Commercial loads (contact facility for larger hauls)
Heads up before you go
Larger commercial loads require you to contact the facility ahead of time. Residential loads are fine to drop off during regular hours with no appointment. If you're not sure whether your items are accepted, call ahead at (403) 362-5188.
